Sarah Hughes is a professional Medical Herbalist having completed a 4 year science degree (BSc) at Westminster University London. Medical Herbalists are trained in the same diagnostic techniques as doctors but use a more traditional approach to their patients and have the benefit of a longer consultation to evaluate the situation. Sarah is a member of both the Irish Institute of Medical Herbalists (IIMH) and the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH). All members of these professional bodies must be qualified and adhere to strict codes of ethics and conduct. They can be identified by the letters MIIMH and MNIMH after their name. Sarah uses medicinal plants from around the world but concentrates on those growing locally feeling they are most suited to those living in the Irish climate. Sarah is also a Nutritional Therapist having a diploma in Nutritional Therapy which she obtained from the Institute of Health Sciences in Dublin. During each consultation time will be spent looking at the diet and tweaks or larger changes that can be made. Herbal medicine and good nutrition go hand in hand and when both are corrected patients are thrilled with the increased energy and zest for life they feel.
